Dalrymple Landcare Committee

Assisting primary producers to improve land management practices since 1988…

The Dalrymple Landcare Committee Inc (DLC) was formed in 1988 as an initiative of graziers from the Charters Towers district who wanted to see improvement of land management strategies in the local area.

The DLC was the first Landcare group to start in a non-urban or intensive farming area in Queensland, and has remained a strong and effective group that represents some 70 000km2 and over 200 commercial grazing operations in the Charters Towers Regional Council (formerly the Dalrymple Shire).

The committee has been involved in a large number of community activities, including self-help/awareness raising events, field days, community forums, large scale projects encompassing a suite of on ground works. DLC is staffed by a part time co-ordinator to assist with administration, co-ordination of local Landcare activities and industry training on the ground.
